Michaela Luna is a Colorado native and a DWS alum, having attended The Denver Waldorf School from the young age of five years old until graduating in 2009. During high school, Michaela played varsity volleyball all four years and helped lead the Spartans to the playoffs her junior and senior year. After high school, Michaela attended Charleston Southern University in South Carolina where she played Division 1 volleyball on an athletic scholarship while earning a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with a minor in fine arts.
“I am so excited for the opportunity to be coaching for the school that helped raise me,” Michaela said.
Michaela began her coaching career back in South Carolina coaching a competitive club team and coached Juggernaut Volleyball in Denver.
“My love for volleyball came from my Mom,” she exclaimed. “I remember my Dad and I would watch her play every Saturday. Those are some of the best memories I have!”
Albany Luna is from a small farming town in Colorado where sports was life. She began playing volleyball at the age of 9 and played as a varsity starter all four years during high school including playing on the all-star regional team. Albany is married to John Luna, who happens to be Michaela’s first cousin and a DWS alum. Albany and John’s beautiful children attend DWS – Cashous is in 4th grade and Lillyauna is in 1st grade.
