Olivia Spence

ECE and Aftercare Supporting Teacher

Olivia Spence has been teaching for four years and is currently deepening her journey through the Waldorf Foundations Studies Program at the Sophia Institute. With a background in Studio Art, Hispanic Studies, and Humanities, Olivia brings a rich blend of creativity and cultural appreciation into her classroom.

Her path to Waldorf education began while searching for the right school for her son, now a fifth grader at DWS. Every other approach felt incomplete until she discovered Waldorf- a philosophy that aligned with her vision of a healthy, meaningful education. Inspired by the way Waldorf nurtures the whole child, Olivia was drawn to teaching as a way to offer children the same sense of wonder, beauty, and presence.

Olivia loves creating and cultivating nourishment with her hands- whether through drawing, painting, knitting, crocheting, cooking, or gardening. These passions naturally weave into her classroom, offering children daily experiences of beauty, rhythm, and creativity. In her teaching, she treasures the small moments: the light of discovery in a childโ€™s eyes, the joy of making something with care, and the warmth of community.

She hopes her students carry with them the certainty that they are loved, and the memory of being truly seen and met with presence.
