Jennifer Grahnquist

High School Theatre Arts Teacher

Jennifer Grahnquist brings a lifelong passion for the performing arts to her work as Theatre Teacher at The Denver Waldorf School. She began teaching ballet at age 17 after assisting in preschool dance classes since she was 12- a tradition of teaching that runs in her family. After discovering Waldorf education shortly after high school, Jennifer felt an immediate connection to its spiritual and artistic values. She went on to intern at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh while studying at Chatham University and later served as a class teacher at DWS, guiding a cohort from first through fifth grade before transitioning to her current role in theatre education.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a Waldorf teaching certificate from Sunbridge Institute, and is currently completing her Masterโ€™s in Theatre Education at the University of Northern Colorado (expected December 2025). In the classroom, she delights in sharing theatre with all students- especially those who may not have chosen it in a traditional setting. She values learning about her studentsโ€™ passions and supporting their journeys, both on and off stage.

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Jennifer came to Colorado in 2011 to dance with the Colorado Ballet. After several years in Pittsburgh pursuing education and dance, she returned to Denver in 2017 to join the DWS faculty. Outside of school, she performs, choreographs, and directs in the local theatre community. Jennifer recently married and shares her home with her husband and their two dogs, Olive and Mango. She hopes her students leave her classroom with a deeper sense of confidence, empathy, and self-awareness.
