Betsy Doyle-White
Interim Education Director
Betsy Doyle White has been a beloved presence at The Denver Waldorf School for more than 30 years, guiding students with heart, humor, and a deep dedication to the art of teaching. Her journey began in childhood on her California driveway, where she played “school” and always claimed the role of teacher- eager to hand out her rainbow pads of paper.
Since then, her passion has only grown. Betsy has taught nearly every combination of middle school classes at DWS and served in leadership as both Educational Director and Interim Educational Director. She first encountered Waldorf education as a school secretary while her son attended a Waldorf school in California. Moved by the stories, song, and intention woven through the curriculum, she found herself wondering, “Could I do that?” The answer, resoundingly, was yes.
Betsy holds degrees in both Humanities and Waldorf Education, which she earned simultaneously while raising her son and working two jobs. She brings a joyful, imaginative, and rigorous approach to her classroom- infusing lessons with artistic expression, movement, storytelling, and plenty of laughter. A parent once affectionately dubbed her “All About the Fun, Mrs. Doyle,” a title she wears with pride.
A native of California’s Monterey Bay Area, Betsy has made Colorado home for three decades. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys reading, traveling, and CrossFit, and treasures quiet time with her Golden Retriever, Zepla. She finds deep meaning in Waldorf traditions, especially the **Winter Spiral, which she sees as a powerful act of courage and reverence for students.
Above all, Betsy hopes her students leave her classroom knowing they are loved, capable, curious, brave, artistic, intuitive, and prepared to write their own next chapter- wherever life may take them.
