Andrea Weid

Director of Student Support

Andrea Weid brings a deep and varied background in health, education, and social justice to her role as Director of Student Support at The Denver Waldorf School. An occupational therapist since 1998, Andrea has worked extensively in mental health and higher education, guided by a passion for community-based practice, wellness, and prevention. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus in non-profit management and, following a life-changing illness in 2016, pursued additional certifications as an Integrative Health Coach and Mindfulness Teacher. She has since developed an 18-week mindfulness program for children experiencing anxiety and is trained to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to teens.

Andrea joined DWS in 2022 after relocating from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where her son attended the Rudolf Steiner School from 6th through 12th grade. Her professional journey and connection to Waldorf education made joining DWS a natural step.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in observation, curiosity, and the power of asking meaningful questions. She emphasizes the importance of environment- social, physical, and energetic- in a student’s ability to learn and engage.

Andrea holds dear the Waldorf Rose Ceremony and the Senior Project Presentations. For her, these rituals represent transformation, community, and the full arc of a student’s Waldorf journey- from welcoming to send-off, from potential to realized growth. She finds daily inspiration in the reminder that the child in front of us is always the teacher.
