Christa Gustafson

Director of Operations

Christa Gustafson brings a broad background in human services and community care to her role as School Operations Director at The Denver Waldorf School. Her professional experience includes working with juveniles in the detention system, supporting individuals with disabilities in both residential and vocational settings, providing care for elderly individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and working in childcare. She also spent time at Starbucks while raising her two oldest children. Christa holds a degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and is a certified School Safety Specialist through the Colorado School Safety Resource Center.

Christa’s connection to Waldorf education is lifelong. She attended The Denver Waldorf School in the early 1980s alongside her siblings. In 2004, she returned as a parent when she enrolled her eldest child- and she’s remained ever since, with her youngest now graduating from the high school after 21 continuous years in the community. Her long-term involvement has given her a deep understanding of Waldorf values and culture.

Originally from Maryland, Christa moved to Colorado at age five and has called it home ever since, with a brief period spent in Bellingham, Washington after college. As Operations Director, in addition to the diverse plethora of other responsibilities, she now oversees the school’s Winter Fair, one of her favorite community traditions. Having watched it evolve from the Christmas Fair to the Holiday Fair and now the Winter Fair, she continues to honor and steward this beloved celebration of community and seasonal rhythm.
