This is why the arts are an integral part of our Waldorf curriculum. Some often think that this means that Waldorf schools are “art schools” or are only for students interested in pursuing the arts. However, the way that the arts are integrated into our learning is for all- it’s to foster creativity and imagination, it’s for the beauty and joy they bring to learning, it’s for the vitality they bring to our development as whole human beings. It’s to experience becoming.

Our learning often extends to the natural world, and this week, our 10th graders ventured to the Plains Conservation Center for an afternoon of service work focused on native plant restoration. As part of our “Beyond the Classroom” program led by Mr. Gray, this part of our high school curriculum is aimed to develop and strengthen our students’ connection to themselves, their community, and the natural world we live in. Social renewal has always been a core part of our Waldorf education, and we are grateful that this program has fostered our service to others and stewardship of the earth. We are thankful for the many partnerships with our greater community (this time with The Denver Botanic Gardens and the City of Aurora) that have allowed our students to experience these adventures that empower them to be global citizens.

How does the Waldorf curriculum support non-traditional learners? How does movement support strong reading skills? Join us for our next installment of Adventures in Anthroposophic Education on 1/28 from 5:30 - 6:30pm to find out! Movement Specialist Faustina Pfister and Literacy Support Specialist Milandra Pfisfer will discuss ways developmental movement and reading acquisition intersect, as well as share a glimpse into how anthroposophy shapes alumni and teacher biographies. Please note this is postponed from the original date of 1/14. Childcare and dinner will be provided for kids - RSVP by 1/27 via our event page on our website or the weekly update.

Our students certainly soaked in this latest snowfall! And yes, we play outside in all weather! The layers, the boots, the bundling can all feel like a lot of effort sometimes, but we have always understood that a connection to nature is foundational to our learning. Rain, sunshine, or snow - you will find our students in the great outdoors soaking in the many benefits that nature provides for social, emotional, physical, and academic development.

Our high school musical theatre elective performance of “Anastasia” is bringing much life to the stage this week! Thirty-three of our high school students (and one of our 4th graders) have been hard at work this past semester rehearsing, building, and painting for this show. We are excited to share it with our community tonight at 6 pm! We love seeing their enthusiasm on stage as they share Anastasia’s story of discovery - finding home, love, and who she is meant to be.

This is what we want for our world and this young generation of creative thinkers, change makers, and confident leaders. This is why all of our students learn to knit, practice woodwork, make music, explore the outdoors, celebrate festivals, write poetry, write in cursive, engage in thoughtful discussion, and cultivate that lifelong love of learning. May we cherish what makes us human. Come tour our K-12 campus and see what we are all about.

A new year, a new season, new seeds of growth and wonder are ever present in our classrooms! We were so glad to see the enthusiasm return to our hallways once again after a restful winter break. Just as Ms. Nelly’s changing chalkboard drawing captures - the beauty, the stories, and the curiosity that comes to life in our learning together are truly a gift.

Typical 8th grade desk in our Waldorf classroom - instead of AirPods, you’ll find constructed headphones made from some wire, magnets, and cups 🎧🎶😉. As part of the physics block and their studies of electricity and magnetism, the students first constructed microphones and then converted them to headphones! They also worked firsthand to make their own electric motor.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Middle schoolers are curious about the world around them and eager to see the practical applications of the material they are studying. In our science curriculum, students are not just told what is going to happen or how things work. Through hands-on experiments, they are able observe the results firsthand, making for a meaningful lesson - and all the while gaining a working knowledge of the forces at work in our modern world.

We are looking forward to our festival hall and stage coming back to life this week with our return to school! Before break, the 9th grade dove into the world of improvisation, acting without scripts. Improv is far more than “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” style comedy - it is a tool to develop important acting skills. This type of theatre forces actors to listen and respond to each other in the moment, to be present, and trust their instincts. The class shared their learning with the community in two audience-interactive showcases, and there was much laughter filling our festival hall!

Our stage will again be coming alive this week with the the high school musical performances of Anastasia. 33 of our high school students (and one of our 4th graders) have been hard at work all semester rehearsing, building, and painting this show, and we can’t wait for them to share it with the community! All are welcome to join us on Friday, January 9th at 6:00pm.

We are ready to move forward into 2026! Our 3rd graders presented these beautiful calendars to their families as gifts for the holiday season. Over the last couple months, they have been working diligently on many of the mathematical concepts in practical life- including time with clocks and calendars. What better way to integrate art than with the creation of an original calendar - weaving in creativity, joy, and experience to make for a meaningful lesson as well as a treasured gift. We hope everyone was been having a wonder-filled winter break!

This is what it looks like when a lesson in physics combines with community, artistic collaboration, and creativity! Earlier this fall, our 7th graders experienced a block in physics with Mr. Clark, learning all about light, color, and how the human eye works. Before break, they turned that lesson into some shadow puppet stories for their 3rd grade buddies- it is always a joy to hear the laughter shared and see their ideas come to life!
