Summer Enrichment Camp 2013
A Waldorf-inspired Summer Camp experience for children ages 3-1/2 through rising 5th graders.
Early Childhood Summer Adventures
(ages 3-1/2 to 6 years)
Join us for a fun, relaxing and magical summer! Every week the children will explore a different theme (listed below) through story, circle, simple crafts and activities such as nature walks and water-day Wednesdays. A morning snack will be provided. However, the following must be provided each day: a healthy lunch; indoor and outdoor shoes; hats and sunscreen; a change of clothing; towels; swimsuits; and, an afternoon snack (full-day campers only).
What’s the Story?: This week we will listen to, tell, and have a chance to live within many creative stories with games, crafts and special guest, “Dornob” the Clown.
Fiesta!!: Come explore the Spanish culture and traditions through language, art and delicious treats.
Clownin’ Around: Get together for a little circus fun including face painting, bean bag tossing and many other fun tricks of the trade.
Slime Slingers and Sticky Fingers: Have some simply silly fun with messy concoctions bound to bring on the giggles. (Please send your child(ren) in clothing meant to get dirty and a change of clothes too!).
Little Foodies: Put your apron on and help us make some healthy, homemade, tastebud ticklers.
Outdoor Galore: Come explore the great outdoors inside and out with wet and wild water fun, picnics, obstacle courses, tall tales and many more activities to celebrate the elements of nature.
July 29-Aug. 2
Busy Little Hands: Awaken your fingers this week with activities and materials such as beeswax, wet felting and other simple crafts and natural fibers.
Earth, Water, Fire and Air: This week we will have a visit from each of the elements through simple activities and crafts and their respective fairies.
Camps for the Grades
(Rising 1st through Rising 5th Graders)
The Grades children will enjoy weekly, themed workshops (described below) from 9:00 am – 11:00 am each day. The remainder of the day is spent with camp staff; playing and resting at the school, taking walks and enjoying other outdoor activities. Full-day campers will attend Congress Park Pool most afternoons. A morning snack will be provided. However, the following must be provided each day: a healthy lunch; indoor and outdoor shoes; hats and sunscreen; a change of clothing; towels; swimsuits; and, an afternoon snack (full-day campers only).
ExploraStorium: Come to the Explorastorium with storyteller Paul Belden, where we will read, tell, act out, draw and, in as many ways as possible, experience the worlds, connections and opportunities that open up to us with stories. Each member will also learn how to make a simple balloon animal, perform a magic trick, and fold some origami while telling stories, of course!
Dramatic Arts: Explore the basics of drama through improv, dance, story, games and song with Denver Waldorf School Lead Kindergarten Assistant Wayne Easter.
Muffin Tin Madness: Pocket-sized fun for every taste bud! Join Dawn Archer, Denver Waldorf School Aftercare Director, in the kitchen to make all kinds of mini-meals to fit a muffin tin.
Wood Wonders: Learn about different trees around our campus with Kimberly Rickards, Denver Waldorf School Kindergarten Assistant. Create a walking stick, a pencil holder and whatever our local materials inspire us to make … a fairy house? A Castle? Only the wood knows!
Fiber Fun: A journey of raw wool to a finished field/shoulder bag with Kimberly Rickards, Denver Waldorf School Kindergarten Assistant. Perfect for carrying a compass, binoculars or your everyday needs.
Sports and Games: Michael Quinn, Denver Waldorf School Athletic Director, offers an opportunity to play and learn fundamental skills of a variety of sports and games while having loads of fun!
July 29-August 2
Gnome and Fairy Science: Explore the Gnome and Fairy worlds with Kimberly Rickards, Denver Waldorf School Kindergarten Assistant, through hand-crafted geodes, crystals, observation of flight and other magical activities.
Slime Slingers and Sticky Fingers: Join us for a week of downright dirty, messy fun with Denver Waldorf School Aftercare Director, Dawn Archer. Please be sure to send your child(ren) in clothing meant to get dirty and a change of clothing too! There will be warm water for clean-up!!
Tuition Schedule And Program Details
Early Childhood Summer Adventures: The Early Childhood full-day camp is held Monday ~ Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Schedule options include: 1) 5-day option is M-F; 2) 3-Day option is T/W/TH; and, 3) half-day option from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. All campers must be potty trained.
Cost: 5 Full Days=$220.00 3 Full Days=$150.00
5 Half Days= $135.00 3 Half Days=$100.00
Registration cost After May 6th
5 Full Days=$250.00 3 Full Days=$175.00
5 Half Days= $160.00 3 Half Days=$125.00
Grades Camps: The Grades Camps are held Monday ~ Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and the half-day program is from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. There is only a 5-day option available for these camps. The children will be frequently visiting the neighborhood pool at Congress Park in the afternoons (accessible by foot).
Cost: 5 Full Days=$220.00 Cost with registration after May 6th: 5 Full Days=$250.00
5 Half Days=$135.00 5 Half Days=$160.00
Drop-in Participation and Late Pick-up Fees:
Drop-ins are considered on a space-available basis and only after registration has closed May 6. The cost for drop-in participation is $55.00 (full day) and $35.00 (half day). There is a 5-minute grace period for pick-up, after which time you will be billed $1.00 per minute.
Come meet our teachers and learn about program details on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:00pm at The Denver Waldorf School in the Aftercare Room. It is strongly recommended that parents who are not familiar with Waldorf education attend. Registration deadline is May 6, 2013.
A reminder that the first day back to school is August 27, 2013 for Grades 1 through 12, and August 28, 2013 for Nursery and Preschool/Kindergarten classes.
